Purpose
The goals of the Te Tohu Paetahi mo te Hoahoa Bachelor of Design are to develop students’ values, dispositions, breadth of knowledge, and skills/capabilities to enable them to practise as designers who are capable of making change, generating value with positive impacts on wellbeing and prosperity. The degree aims to facilitate learning through exceptional, student-centred learning experiences underpinned by matauranga Maori, in turn fostering a powerful sense of place and supporting diverse communities and the design profession. Te Tohu Paetahi mo te Hoahoa Bachelor of Design graduates will be well-situated to respond to their place in Aotearoa New Zealand and the world. Graduates will practice as committed designers capable of making change, generating value with positive impacts on wellbeing and prosperity. Their practice will be underpinned by the principles of Motuhaketanga (Independent/Self-determined), Manaakitanga (Ethical/Professional), Auahatanga (Inquiry/Creative), Pukenga (Skills/Application), and Korero Pono (Speak truthfully/ Communicate with integrity).
